Usage and limits

Limits are for your whole account, not per app. Here is what counts, where to see it and what happens when you get close.

What counts

  • Storage and data: your apps' built files, anything your apps write to disk, static sites, and the data in your databases. All apps and databases in the account share one allowance.
  • Traffic: requests to your apps at your-app.systemi.in and the data sent back, counted per calendar month.
  • Memory and CPU are fair use: on the Basic plan, apps that idle go to sleep and wake on the next request, and an app that keeps using far more than its share may be slowed or paused.

Usage includes the system overhead of running your apps and databases, so it can read a little higher than the size of your files and tables alone. An empty database doesn't count. What each plan includes is on the pricing page.

The Usage page

Open Usage in the console to see a bar for storage and data and one for traffic this month, with a few words such as “Under half used” or “Nearly full”. Below that, each app's bar shows its share of the storage you use, files and database together, so you can see which app to tidy first. Usage is measured regularly, so a change can take a little while to show.

Near and at the limit

When storage isWhat happens
nearly fulla notice on the Usage page; everything keeps working
fullnew builds and new databases wait, and your databases become read-only; your apps keep serving visitors
full for a whiledatabase sign-ins may be paused until the account is back under its limit
well over, on the Basic planyour apps are paused and visitors see a short “paused” page; static sites keep serving

Everything picks up again on its own once usage is back under the limit or the account moves to a bigger plan.

Traffic and fair use

On the Basic plan, traffic is fair use for business and commercial needs; there is no fixed number. Basic traffic and limits vary with the impact on other customers. If your SaaS app trends and grows faster, consider a bigger plan: the Usage page says “High for the Basic plan” when it is time.

Starter and bigger plans include a monthly amount of traffic, shown as a bar. Going past it brings a notice, not a shutdown; if it keeps happening, a bigger plan is the better fit.

Making room

  • Delete rows or tables you no longer need in the table editor or SQL console. While your databases are read-only that isn't possible, so write to us and we'll help.
  • Remove old uploads, logs and caches your app writes to disk.
  • Delete apps you no longer use; their files and database go with them.
  • Or move to a bigger plan.
